The idea to launch a new science editors’ society was discussed at the online editorial meeting organized by the Shevchenko Scientific Society, Western Scientific Center and Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University on April 7, 2020 (https://mspsss.org.ua/index.php/journal/article/view/264/307). It was suggested to unite science editors across Ukraine, upgrade their knowledge and credentials, and increase indexability of local and regional journals. The new society was named the Ukrainian Council of Science Editors (UCSE) to open membership for local and regional journal editors from all language and professional backgrounds. Additionally, it was aimed to expand networking of Ukrainian journal editors with information facilitators, database and computer science experts, and linguists. By expanding the members’ network and diversifying scholarly activities within the Council, it is hoped to increase the quality and integrity of numerous start-up and established journals, to create a critical mass of highly skilled science editors, and to establish cooperation with global editorial associations.
